Sky Remote Control

Can someone please tell me if it is possible to use the Sky Remote Control to control the tv., as tv remote has just packed up?

I think you can use it to control the volume, i think thats it, i dont own sky so im not 100% sure but have had sky in the past.

EDIT: You can always get a cheap all in 1 remote.

a sky remote should work with most TV's
If you get the Remote Code you can use the sky remote to change channel, volume, teletext but some features like "Colour/Contrast" menus my not be accessible!

The SKY remote is got for an emergancy or short term use but pick up a cheep All in 1 remote. It is probably a better option

It is unlikely that any Remote Control other than the designated one for your TV will give full usage of all available facilities.

A Sky Remote can be programmed to work the basics.

There is a step by step procedure in the Sky Customer services menu for setting up your Sky remote for your TV, (Sky man should have done this for you).
Just done it myself for a Digihome Telly I got from Tesco, amazed that the code was there and worked!

To do this you need to find your tv here:

http://www.sky.com/Assets/PDF/StaticFiles/316210.pdf

Then do this on your sky remote:

Press TV
Press Select and the Red button until it blinks twice
Press TV again
Enter 4 digit code
Press power button.
