To switch or not to switch?

Hi all,
Basically I’m after some advice about if I should switch gas & electric suppliers. Basically I’ve looked at other suppliers and basically no one seems to compare like with like
Currently we’re with Eon on their Duel fuel no standing charge plan and they’ve just up our monthly DD to £89. I’ve called and asked them the exact prices I pay for khw and I’ve been told the following but everyone else appears to calculate the secondary tariff on an annual basis: (all costs inc VAT)
Gas
4.570p per kWh
2.193p per kWh above 671 kWh per quarter
Electricity
20.38p per kWh
11.820p per kWh above 226 kWh per quarter
According to Eon, our annual usage in kwh is:
Gas: 12,277
Elec: 3,952
So I’m after some advice from anyone that can make sense of this! Would I be better switching or is this the best I can get?

Have you tried entering your annual kWh figures into a few of the comparison sites in the resource bar at the top of the page? They should give you a league table of your annual costs for various suppliers. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

I am with Eon and have been looking at their prices this morning on comparison sites. What you haven't mentioned is that you may get a discount off those figures for direct debit payment.
For electricity only, I get 6% off, but it also looks like you can get another 6% discount (total 12%) if you register online and have paperless billing. Although this isn't easily visible on the Eon website, a telephone call confirmed it was available.
My best figure for electricity was from BG, but if I get the 12% at Eon, BG is a very small saving at the moment.0 -
I've tried the comparison sites the problem I have Eon calculate their secondary tarrif on a quarterly basis where as everyone else seems to do an annual basis, therefore I can't seem to get a like for like quote.
Unless someone can tell me how to work this outYou laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same0
