Car Insurance - Adding a named driver

I have had a look around the forum and have noticed that if i add a named driver to my policy who is older than me and been driving longer then I could save money.
I have already payed my insurance in one for this year but do you think if I phoned up and added my older sister on who has been driving for 10 years with a clean record they might lower my premium therefore a refund on what I payed. Dont know wether anyone has tried this and has worked. If not I will just add her on when my policy is due for renewal.
cheers

Why not ring them up and ask them what the difference would be?0

You can try but these days insurers often charge an "admin fee" for making changes which can be anythning from £15-£50.
My guess is that you would be better off doing this at renewal time because any refund may be offset by an admin fee for the change.0 -

Yes, I've just changed vehicle. The new insurance premium is only £9 more per year than for the previous car ..... but there was also a £49 admin fee for re-issuing the policyWatch out for the sandbag.0
