Thomson Holidays and Quidco

Has anyone booked a Thomson holiday via Quidco and had problems with the cashback not tracking?
Our deposit did not track, and when we opened an enquiry we were told:
"Response from Merchant. Declined - Another marketing channel was credited with sale"
We definitely booked via Quidco!
I wondered if it will all track together when we pay the balance which is due tomorrow. We shall clear the cookies before paying, but as the balance is over £1000, it is a lot of cash back to lose.
Any ideas if there is anything else we can do?

you should have cleared the cookies before you started.. you might have gone to their site, some other way, which places a cookie on your computer..
this overrides the quidco cookie which is on your computer after, so someone else got the commission..
probably nothing you can do to be honest!0 -
I'd be interested to see if they class your next payment as a purchase, woudln't surprise me that they only track your deposit payment as the 'purchase' and anything future i.e. payments doesn't register0

I'm not very technically minded - does this mean another person has gained 'my' cashback?
The only other cash back site I have anything to do with is Pigsback and I have not gone to Thomson through them.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
if you have gone to their site before, the credit would be paid to any previous referring site ( or none if went direct/ viua thomson email).. need to clear cookies
Also if used a discount code it can block the credit to quidcoAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

In a sense, yes. but not really..
Ok... Thomson advertise on websites, and they pay the people who advertise money when the link is clicked and something is bought. Thus the website carries on running.
What quidco are basically doing is saying that, they're advertising thomson, but are giving you the advertising money they would have got.
As has just been said, you might have browsed their site earlier, without quidcoing, or clicked another link, maybe from google, and this has placed a cookie on your computer. This means that the quidco one cannot function
Quidco have a great guide to a good way of working round this, this is by using a decidated web browser just for quidcoing. for the non tech savvy people out there, it is a good idea!

Thank you!
OH spent ages browsing the web for a particular hotel before we gave up and booked another hotel, so that probably explains it.
Shall clear cookies (OK- shall make DS1 clear the cookies) before we pay the balance & hope it tracks. If it doesn't, well worse things happen in the world and we will know next time.
(Not sure what a 'dedicated web browser' is but DS1 & 2 are both in, ans what else are 20-somethings for but to enlighten their parents?!)I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
ok.. you probably use Internet Explorer for surfing the internet..
yes?
of course, because that is what is bundled into your computer, and you probably didn't realise you could get other web browsers..
it is all detailed on the quidco pages, but you could download Firefox, and use that, just for logging into quidco, clicking the link, and making your purchase... all your research is done in IE.
Firefox has it's own set of cookies, which are all quidco ones, and then you have a greater chance of everything tracking perfectly!0 -
All set up - and I almost had the family fooled into believing I knew what I was talking about, then they twigged
.
I've already pressed the 'thank you' button, but just to add a more public thanks!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Does anyone know what the quidco payout is if you book a package holiday (ie flights and hotel as one)? Not sure which of these categories it would come under...
£2for low cost flights2.5%for lakes and mountains and ski holidays6%for hotels and cruises£5for car hire, flights, build your own holiday
could come under hotels or could come under build your own holiday? ThanksMother, wife, scientist, analyst.
