What can I do with my old pushchair?

Hi Everyone

Really sorry if this is in the wrong place - feel free to move it if it is!

I have a 21 month old toddler and a baby due the beginning of August so am about to purchase a double pushchair.

However I have a Gracco Deluxe travel system which we hardly used with out first as we swapped to a light weight buggy after a couple of months. I've looked on Ebay and they don't seem to be fetching all that much really and as I want to keep the car seat for number 2 probably would fetch even less! Any suggestions on the best place to sell it? Does anywhere 'part exchange' pushchairs?! The new one is quite expensive so am eager to get back some money off the old one if I can.

Thanks

    how about adtrader.co.uk
you can insert a free ad and it goes online and in the two weekly papers that come out in your local area, you can also post a pic free on the online ad.
I have sold many an item on there even when my hubby wanted to throw things out!
  • You could always try to sell on ebay by setting a reserve.

Alternatively you could ask to advertise in your local newsagents.

PS - most people don't like to buy second hand car seats anyway, so I don't think you will devalue it by selling without

Your local NCT may have a sale coming up or a newsletter that goes out.
    somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's
  • Thanks everyone for your help! I've tried the baby shops and aren't willing to p/x, the best deals on the new one i want are on the internet anyway. I'm going to put an advert in the post office and one in sainsburys and see how they go! (never thought of advertising it like that!) If no luck there then I shall put it on Ebay.:D

Don't be put off Ebay - I sold my pram earlier this year, others the same or with a car seat were only selling for £50 and some not selling at all. Take lots of good pictures, emphasise the condition of it and you never know - I got £125 in the end! good luck.

Give Ebay a go....for things that are collection only, it often depends on where you live. It only costs a few pence, you can start at a minimum price that you'd be happy with and will probably sell, but if not, you've not really lost that much.

You could always try listing on ebay without car seat, or put a note that if they don't want the car seat the postage will be cheaper. I actually avoided looking at pushchair listings that came with a car seat because we wanted to buy ours new and I thought it would push the postage up too much (and didn't want the hassle of getting rid of it either.)
I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right

Would you not consider keeping it for when you and another are out with both kids - easier both of you pushing a single buggy than a double. I have 2 1/2 years between my two boys and although we didnt buy a twin buggy we always had 2 buggys in the boot for the weekend when DH was off work. When I was out myself I had a buggy board, then DS1 would sit on tray under pram if he was tired - it was metal tray on Silver Cross 3 in 1.
No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

Heya, i know that you said you want money for your old pushchair so I would def reccommend ebay/freeads/adtrader and/or your local newpapers. and then, if you still have no luck you could join up to your local Freecycle which is a site to advert items that you no longer need to others. Unfortunatly you will not get paid for your item but you are then free to take other items from others that are advertising. Its a nice way to meet people and a good way to stop people chucking good items that could be used by someone else. Hope this helped, but like i said try those other ideas i said first and hopefully you will make a small profit!
