in Credit cards
I need to get my Nationwide credit card paid by today at the latest or not the payment is going to be late. Due to my kids both being continuously sick, being in hospital etc I've only now managed to get my bills organised - I know not very MSE.
Anyway, I called Nationwide and they advised paying through my online banking etc. Both my kids are sick and it looks likely I'm going to have to take one of them to the hospital again. I can't access the Nationwide site at all to pay my bill although I have funds there to pay my bills. AAARRRGGHHH!!! What can I do??

Hi Smiley_Mum
Firstly, I'm sorry ur kids r not well
Would they not accept a debit card payment over the phone? I've done that before with Barclaycard, don't know if Nationwide would accept or not??
As far as I'm aware, online banking would still take a couple of days to show on your account.
Good luck.Mortgage-free wannabe!0 -
Most companies will take a debit card over the phone - certainly MBNA and Capital one doTANSTAAFL !0

The main Nationwide banking site is up and running. I did close my Nationwide credit card because of problems accessing the details of my Nationwide credit card when in credit.
It does say on the back of the credit card statement that FlexAccount customers can use the bill payment facility via Telephone Home Banking, Online Banking or a Nationwide self service cash machine. To use this service you need to quote your account number (number on card). The sort code 07-30-12 and their account number 00001604. Allow three working days for the money to reach them.

Thanks for the quick replies. I do have online banking with Nationwide but unfortunately, my MEMORABLE data escapes me, rats!!!
I've tried every permutation but it won't let me login and they don't accept payments by phone. I either have to go to the branch or pay online. Need to pay this by Friday. I'm never ever late with my payments, just this last month has been a nightmare with the kids being sick continuously. I have the funds to pay them, just no way of getting the payments to them.
I'll call the local branch and see if they can take payment over the phone or something, surely they can do something. The funds are there to pay them and it's so frustrating.
Fingers crossed everyone that I get back on afterwards as my internet connection was terrible this morning, tried thousands of times to get connected before it finally let me on and that was after I gave the CPU tower a thump. Wannadoo/Freeserve - what am I paying £18 a month for??????????“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. It won't help you this time, but why not set up a minimum payment DD? You could then pay the difference between this & the account balance manually each month as you normally do.
If you couldn't get the "full" bill paid on time, you'd pay a small amount of interest, but at least you wouldn't get hit with the late payment charge (and subsequent damage to your credit rating).0 -
Thanks all for taking the time to reply to my post. I had one final go at the memorable data and thankfully, it worked, not enough digits in the date format.
Paid my bill and hopefully it will go through in time for Friday's deadline. Thanks all for the tips and info. :A“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -

I am relieved as I'm always right on the nail with my bills etc and to miss a payment would have really annoyed me.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0
