Our house has fitted wardrobes in. We just adjusted the height of the rail inside the wardrobe for our girls and as they have got taller and their clothes have got longer (lol) we have adjusted it accordingly.
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

We have Tallboys in our guest bedrooms with a full length hanging rail and a single drawer at the bottom, they're much smaller than wardrobes they were from Argos in Beech last year.

    Or

    Next Child's wardrobe

    Or this one

might be worth trying Ikea for cheaper options

    what it the max height.

we fitted ikea wardrobes in our loft, and had to cut some to fit. bought ones that had 4 drawers at bottom, so glass door fitted fine, just frame cut, and did not pay for the drawers, as you buy in bits.

then you could put the rail, drawers, shelves inside wherever you want, and move them as child grows. also lots of colours and doors avail - closest to maple is ikea's birch colour

Would kitchen units be any good? Most DIY stores have a value range, so maybe you could use half a larder unit or something? There is usually something resembling maple and they're flat-packed so they'll easily fit in a loft, and you can buy hanging rails and fittings separately.
