What bean plant is this?
Sorry but I don't know how to provide images.........Basically as a novice few months ago i started to grow some beans but can't remember if they were runner or broad? the plant is in a greenhouse and nearly 5ft tall!!..i think i should have pinched out the leaves earlier and didn't?...the plant has black/white flowers which seem to be dying...again with hindsight i think i should have planted it out?..my question is what is it,is it dying? and will iget any beans?.......
Many thanks..Zoe

It sounds like broad beans to me, ours are outside and are four foot tall, never seen broad bean plants this big before, but there you go, I think it should have been put outside earlier but the flowers will die then if they have been pollinated you will get beans growing. We have quite a few beans growing on ours and they grow upwards not downwards as you would expect. Well I am rabbiting on I hope this has helped you in some waymortgage free as of 06/02/2008#

I think you're being too kind !! do you think its any use planting them out now considering they are so tall and lanky......unlike me...I'm just wondering if they're dead and the space could be used up so easily....will wait and see! thanks!2020 Jan: storage box,£150 pots & pans, £50 restaurant voucher, dining experience,19 tubes of Pringles Feb: £50 food giftcard,0

I think you could put them out now but you may have to stake them up but I would give them a chance and you never know you may be lucky and get some beans and it gives the bees a chance to do their jobmortgage free as of 06/02/2008#
