Pages on all browsers are taking ages to load and they don't load images fully eg smilies or even B for "bold". I've tried all sorts of bits & pieces, has anyone got a clue what this might be?

Clutching at straws - but do you have a router and is it setup right?
I couldn't get into a few sites for a day last week when I reset my router and ran through the auto setup wizard. I had forgoten to set the MTU size to the number my ISP demands
  • Fran,

Before you start tweaking try some of the speedtests on this post.

    Also run the ADSLGuide Speedtest.

If you're not sure what's normal just post your results.

  • If you're on a 512 connection then that's ok.

Yes I use a router but it's been set up a while. Can settings change on their own?

  • I've had intermittent problems today whilst using this site but I thought it was just me! It even crashed Firefox at one point and I had to reboot because whatever I tried to do kept bringing up a box saying "moneysavingexpert.com could not be found" or words to that effect.

Yep - appears to be a very slow hop thru Seattle and a 2% packet loss on a pathping.

    TOG,

    Thanks.

My problem seems to be with my ISP - adsl4less.
