My little girl ( 6 ) has a trip to a Victorian School with her class next month, they all need to go in Victorian dress.
Could anyone give me some simple ideas to put together cheaply and with minimal sewing please?
I thought i might cheat and buy something on ebay but the prices are crazy!

I'd just stick a dress on her and make or buy a white pinny to put over the top."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0

A girls victorian costume is quite easy.
You need a long dark skirt, down to her calves/ankles. (black perhaps). Just pin it around her waist with a few safety pins or a belt.
If you can pick up a cheap cotton waist petticoat from a charity shop cut it in half and hem the edges so they don't fray. Attach some ribbon to tie up. You can even sew a men's cotton hankie on the top of it to give you a full pinny. Worst case just attach ribbons to a supersize man;s handkerchief.
A mop cap can be made by cutting a circle of fabric. Hem edge. Sew a piece of bias binding or ribbon about 3 " in from edge. Sew on both edges of ribbon and feed elastic through to pull tight to make mop cap.
A dark shawl of any sort will complete the outfit.
Dark socks and school shoes will do fine for footwear.
Hope that helps. You don't have to be a fabulous needlewoman to do this.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. My sewing skills are really not good, my daughters teddy cat became a Manx because I couldnt fix her tail back on. LOL
Thanks for the hints though because a friend of mine has a machine and she could possibly rustle up her daughter and mine a little pinny and hat.0
