Hi all
I have just phoned BG to see if i can pay monthly as we got into diffucultys with our last bill ( it was for £377 for the gas and £182 for electric )
I have now cleared all that we owe and was hoping for a monthly payment plan so this will not happen again.
The amount they want a month is as follows
Gas £78mth
Electric £58mth
Does this seem high to anyone or am i being stupid?:confused:

    It's impossible to say without knowing your annual usage in kWh and your unit rates. That's how they calculate your monthly DD, simply the annual cost divided by twelve.

    Really no idea, high or low, there is not enough information,

    But you can work it out for yourself if you have good readings a year apart. Just calculate the charges according to your present tarriff and divide by 12. Particularly for gas, you need readings a year apart, because the consumption will vary significantly.

    Without better information, I'm guessing it's about right.

    Based on your last bill (presumably covering 3 months) you said

    Electricity = £182 (equivilent to about £60pm)
    Gas = £377 (equivilent to about £125pm)

    Now gas usage over the summer would be expected to be less so £78 pm would be about right (gives you about 4 months out of 12 free)

    Electricity usage often remains quite constant as the only reduction is generally less lighting in summer, (off set in part by higher fridge/freezer consumption) but everything else stays constant.
