I am due to do some plastering of a room - ceiling and walls.
I did do a short course years ago, and we were taught to apply two coats of plaster. The second being applied when the first is tacky dry. Is this neccessary in all cases? It would be quicker if just one is sufficient.
Also, to plaster over artex, is it just a case of plastering it over, or are there certain things to do to it before hand ??
Hope somebody can help,
Thanks

Can't help with plastering, but be careful not to scrape or sand the artex as it may contain asbestos. Plastering over it is the easiest way to get rid of it.0

Im pretty sure you need to knock off the tips of the artex (i did it with a bolster by running it across the ceiling) then pva the artex before applying the plasterI have nothing better to do!!!!0

You need to apply plaster in two coats. The first coat stops the second coat drying too fast so it can be worked to a good finish.0

Go across the ceiling with a floor scraper,PVA @ 5-1 wait till dry then 3-1 while still tacky, and then apply 2 coats of finish.Jobs a goodan:beer:0
