Royal Mail Redirection

My husband went into the main post office in Hythe on 12th October to arrange our mail redirection for 6 weeks starting from 20th October.
22nd October and we are still getting our mail delivered to our home address, not my parents. So I rang up and they only received the instruction on the 21st!!!!! Sure enough a letter is delivered to both addresses saying that because we hadnt allowed enough time to activate the redirection on our preferred date it will start from 28th September!
Is it worth pursuing this as it is a pain as it will mean husband has to go to the house every night on his way home from work (out of his way) to check for post and we quite obviously have allowed the time, and have the PO receipt to prove it....

You mean September rather than October I take it?
I would certainly complain. I would check if there are any guidelines about timeframes online before I did though.0 -
Hmm - just looked - no specifics, but it says 'quick set-up time'

Oh, just found this:14. How long does it take to set up?
Normally five working days from receipt of your application, as long as we receive your fully completed form, along with your ID and payment. We won't accept applications without valid ID for each surname.

Yes, I meant Sept, sorry, head all over the place!
Might phone them tomorrow for a moan, they had nearly 10 days let alone five! :mad:0 -
Last time we moved, we were told that the timescale started from the day the appropriate PO dept received it - not when we put it in at the Post Office.Gwlad heb iaith, gwlad heb galon0

complain
redirection service is rubbish....i had my new passport and driving licence and council tax demand and subsequent court summons sent to the wrong house [old one] and complained, and they sent me a book of first class stamps...
told them where to stick that, and said what had not arrived, and incl court fees [even though action cancelled re council tax]
finally got my whole year's redirection for free0 -
Maybe you made the same mistake when you asked for it to be redirected ... i.e. September/October .. check that first? Twice we have used the PO redirection service and it has been spot on ... maybe it all depends on the particular post office.
IvanI don't care about your first world problems; I have enough of my own!0 -
agree with Ivan, Redirection is spot on. though sometimes i get the feeling they collect my mail at the PO for a few days then send it all at once in one little jiffy bag rather than send each item individually as it comes.
Anyone know if they forward parcels too?0 -
