NR or NS&I? for safety

I see Northern Rock are offering a 6% esaver whereas NS&I are offering 4.4% (over 50k).

I'm still a bit nervous about NR since the problems of last year, even though it is govt backed. Should I go for it?

You can get much better rates now - some of them are fixed term, some not. Best to look at Martin's recommendations which are updated regularly.

Since the government has more than 28 billion quid of tax payers money in NR, they'd probably rather let the NS&I go bust right now.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
