hi
I am quite good at moneysaving in all areas except when it comes to food.
Dont know where all the money that is put into my shopping as extra goes.
Here's my question. At times when i do my weekly shop my freezer is packed and i have to cram more in. At the moment due a food shop and i have enough food to do 15 different dinners with with big portions for the family (2 adults 1 child). This is not 1 portion of leaftovers or anything but things like, steaks , mince , chicken etc.
If i do go out and not buy any dinners my shopping seems to come to the same.
I know i have a problem with food shopping, strange cos i hate spending money on anything else.
Just wondering how much do you guys have left in freezer/fridge/cupboars on a shopping day.
thanks

Too much!
Have just got down to one freezer now albeit a large one and am attempting to go through it with a view to not having very much in when we go on hols in August.
However, what gets taken out tends to be cooked into several meals some of which find their way back in there! Lots and lots of soup!0 -

Can I just ask why you still shop if you have a freezer full?
I would suggest you do a meal planner from your freezer, and only shop IF you need anything else, in fact shop online then you aren't tempted!0 -
i always used to have enough in my freezer to last me 2 weeks on average but over the last few months i have been bargain picking ( not spending any more than normal really) and probably have enough in my freezer for about 6-8 weeks have not checked since i meal planned last month as i had 2 month worth of food in house. my problem is if i see a meat on offer or on whoopsie i have to get it. I am not too bad on other foods.
This month really i only really needed milk and fresh fruit and veg but still i spent whatever my sig says below and i have wanted to go shopping ofr last 3 days but i am putting it off until tomorrow
i know i have a problem but i have a controlled problem lol i do it with in my meansStill TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

I cannot help buying whoopsied meat and sticking it in the freezer also. Now I want to defrost it I am making sure every meal contains at least one item out of the freezer.
I turned 1kg of stewing steak into 8 portions of chilli yesterday.0 -
We have similar problem.............always seems to be loads in the freezer then OH (he's head kitchen person) comes in with a load more.......he'll buy stuff that's on special offer/reduced...........works on the principle of buying it while it's cheap.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

I always overspend when I go into a supermarket so after one biggish shop I try to stay out of them for 2 weeks. I have a full freezer and store cupboard including long life milk so I really could live through June without entering a supermarket. Perhaps I'll try it although it won't be easy for me." When we get round to a shop our fridge and freezer are pretty empty, the cupboards are beginning ot look bare - when i see empty shelf space i panic.
My fridges contents at the minute are (WARNING MAY SHOCK!)
natural yoghurt
milk
half tub of custard (it was 10p at work)
butter
Thats is.
My freezer is tiny. Its one of those little box ones on top of the fridge. So the smallest of shops for the freezer in the world for me - although Im still holding out to get a new bigger one.
I know in there there is
beef joint (finest range top rump) WHOOPSIED
4 pork escalopes WHOOPSIED
Pack of chicken portions (5 thighs, 6 drumsticks broken down into smaller lots - 3 drumsticks to a bag, 2 + 3 thighs)
Pork Sausages
5 pack of sausage rolls WHOOPSIED
800g Value Mince (to be used tonight)
2 Garlic Kievs WHOOPSIED
Whole Chicken
Steak and Ale Pie WHOOPSIED
Large Chicken and Mushroom Puff Pastry Pie WHOOPSIED
Chicken Roll WHOOPSIED when on BOGOF
Pack of 3 chicken breasts - dated June 07! -   Are these edible? from memory I got them form the £5 pack, straight home, split them up and froze them and they are frozen in a tupperware tub!
Can you see a theme????? but with only those few things my freezer is literally bursting beyond belief with lots of things simply squashed in shape in there.Time to find me again0 -
I ran my freezer down before Christmas, but since then I've only seen the bottom of it when I've had to have a sort out/scramble through the contents to find something. It's a small size chest freezer and I seriously need to get the contents used up as there is hardly any space for anything much at all at the moment. Also have 4 drawers in bottom of fridge/freezer that are bulging at the seams as well.
Next payday is 15th June (one reason why I find it difficult to join in the monthly challenges as I never know which one to go into
- though I do it in spirit  ). Maybe I should consider doing a smaller monthly shop for cleaning stuff, soap powder, loo rolls, cat food, eggs, pasta and multi-buy offers. Then top up on a weekly basis for fruit, veggies, bread, milk, meat, whoopsies etc.
Hopefully, June, July and August should be much smaller spends as I whittle down the contents of both freezers. But first I need to make, and find room in freezer for, a chicken casserole to use up the last of sunday's roast chicken  .0 -

:rotfl: :rotfl: I'm glad I'm not the only one that ends up with strange shaped meat from freezer squashing! I took out triangular chicken this morning
My fridge contains, cheese, milk, carrots, courgettes, yoghurt, chicken stock, cold potatoes, remains of some lentil bake thing.
My cupboards are full with very random things
I think i have at least 2 kg of marizpan for example. :staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0
