If yoiu go to www.virginmedia.com/bestoffer you get TV, broadband and phone for £20/month but this onhly lasts til 30th June. so thats £240 for the year, 6 quid cheaper than with cashback

    Cheers
  • I've just left Virgin because once the introductory rate ended, their prices are terrible. I was on the 20Mbit service and got no better than 8Mbit from the real world (average calculated over at least 10 bandwidth monitoring services + some real-world experience).

Had I not left them for that, the phorm + BPI nastygram stuff would have made me.

    Avoid.

We have had Virgin as we had no choice because we had NTL for years. We have had endless problems with the broadband, then we lost Sky One which to a certain extent wasn't their fault I guess and now they have written to us pointing out how they are deliberately slowing the broadband down between certain times of day because people are downloading too much which I find utterly unacceptable. Unfortunately to be fair it is still the cheapest tv/broadband I can find that offers the amount of tv channels and the speed of broadband so we have to just put up with the unreasonable attitude that we pay for a 24/7 service and get only a 18/7 service. They say they may con sider doing this between 10am and 3pm too, just in time for the summer holidays when the kids are home during that time. Thanks. Consider this before you sign up with them.

You state on this thread that it is for New customers, but where does it state that on the Quidco page? If you have a service with Virgin and want to add an additional service you should also qualify. I have added the TV basic package as it is free and does not cost anything to run, so hoping to get the £100 as it clearly does not state, for New Customers only!!

Look out!!!! Quidco have now changed it to read.

I'm just coming to the end of 12 months with Virgin. I'm wondering if it's worth cancelling the contract and then starting a new one to get the cashback...

two years ago my virgin bill was nearly £40 a month inc calls, now i pay on average less than £15 and i still have all three services....

once my contract was finished i callede to cancel and was put through to the retention department....it took a while to answer (as so many people were trying to cancel aswell) but i ended up with free calls all day and night, broadband down to £10 a month and TV and phone for £15 a month aswell. i was happy with this for a while then i got greedy!!!

i called back less than 3 months later and said it was still too expensive andi wasn't interested in any deals....so i got half price mobile calls and internation with 10% off for 6 months.....score i thought.

after my 6 months and my first scary bill in a while. i called back and was offered a deal where it was all included for £19.95 a month with my free landline calls etc....

well i lied then!! i told them i'd had a better deal before, it was still too expensive and the service doesn't meet what i want anymore (they had just lost the sky channels) so they gave me loads of discounts and things on my account which meant for 5 months...THEY were paying ME for having their stuff!! then once some of the discounts ran out, (and this is still the deal i'm on till July) 8mg broadband for £10 a month and TV and phone for £1.95 a month!!!
and they even sent me a wireless router when i called to cancel bband 6 months ago!!

i hope this will inspire some people to haggle their way....virgin wanna keep everyone they can so tell them what you want and you'll probably get it!!

roll on July, i'm going for 20 mb broadband for a tenner this time!!!!

Great haggling - thought I got some good deals, but yours sound cracking.

Just wondering if you did any of this during the 12 month minimum term or after?
  • I think I have a great deal with Virgin with a lot of sweat and negotiation. I have been a customer for years and when I recommended a friend to join he got a great 'new customer' deal which was the same package as mine only half the price. (I was paying around £70 a month). I phoned and gave off and threatened to leave, but I realised they would do a better deal with a bit of negotiation, I perservered and now have the following deal, which I don't think can be beaten.V+ Box with XL package (records, pauses live TV, HD content, On demand etc)Second normal box in another room, again with XL channels.10 mbit BroadbandHome telephone with free local and national calls anytime. All for £33 !!!!!!!! a month. The moral of the story is to get on the phone and bargain them down. Good luck!!
  • Before I read this thread I actually rang Virgin Media yesterday and they offered me the same deal over the phone - and no need to go via cashback sites - no hanging on to see if you receive the cashback or not.
