Hi,
I am lucky that a friend who has a building company has offered to do some work for us, partly for payment and partly as our wedding gift!:)
orginially the plan is to convert the single integral garage into a office/second lving room.
PLus removing a wall in between the kitchen/utility to make a larger kitchen with full lenght windows to lighten the kitchen.
This wil mean no utility but there will be space for the washing machine in the inner hall by the back door and downs stairs wc.
I love this idea because i cant wait to have more light in my kitchen and dont mind not having the utility.
However i am worrying that i will miss the storage space in the garage and that it will put people off when we sell. (not for at least 3 yrs)
We have a shed for storage and there will be a large cupbaord in the new room for the freezer and other bits, do you think this will be ok?
I worry that maybe we should have a conservatory instead?
We told our friend we can afford £4000 for the work as originally he said £2000 for the garage conversion and so we added some for the work in the kitchen.
Do you think a conservatory could be done for this?
i'm not good at makin decisions!

we just converted hlaf of our garage into a utility/ sotrage room, with an integral door from the house. Made a world of difference. But then the house already had a conservatory.......0

We had our garage converted but we also had a little room built at the back of it for storage etc. THe garage became an office/kids play room and it has been really good, glad we got it.2012 Mortgage Free Wannabe # 69Opening mortgage £126,000 19/05/00Ended 2011 £31,019:j£0.00 07/12/2012 :jNever put socks in a toaster.0

1/3rd of our garage is a utility room its has a boiler, washing machine, tumble and large freezer in plus some cupboards for storage. I can still just about fit a car in although never tried yet. We just laid down carpet tiles on concrete floor. It is a cold garage though so no good in Winter to stay in as yet
We also have an old garage where we store wood, tools and chairs for garden etc cant use that for car as it cant be driven round due to position of integral garage
I would love the garage as a other room its connected to kitchen which is small and use the other 2/3rd for a bedroom or living area as I dont my kids can ever afford a house at least in short term so would like them to use that room for privacy0 -
We had our garage converted and also had a conservatory built on the back at the same time.
No contest, go for the garage conversion and forget the conservatory, ours hardly ever gets used but the garage room is used every day.0 -
Conversion is more practical imo.You can always add a conny at a later date if you want to.0
