Stainless Steel

Options
Hello

Can anyone recommend a good stainless steel cleaner for my kitchen - cheaper the better. For my sink/oven/hob etc

Also - is there anyway to remove (or make look better at least) stratches that have appeared on my stainless steel sink?

Ta much

As for cleaning it try a solution of bio washing up powder as suggested HERE
When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt ;)
  • Try baby oil on your hob and sink to give it that 'brand new' look.

    Depends what the stains are.
If you live in a hard water area then the staining is likely to be calcium deposits from the water.

In that case you could use a solution of diluted vinegar to remove the staining.

Cheap and cheerful and good on chips :-)
  • I use a Brillo pad on my sink it comes up lovely.

  • I use diluted vinegar, bicarb of soda, then polish with baby oil.
  • Great to see that no one has recommended any actual specialist products. Showing them for what they relly are, a waste of money.
    Don't ask me, Im SKINT

Too bloody right!!! I've found that my home made cleaning stuff does a far better job too - I wouldn't dream of buying that stuff anymore!
  • I just use Jif myself, but the vinegar and bicarb works just as well :) You need a bit of gentle abrasion to get the dirt and fingermarks off.

(My hubby used to work for a stainless steel manufacturer and our kitchen is FULL of the bleedin' stuff as he insisted we support the industry! ;))

i'm with haybo on the baby oil, since I discovered this my cooker/sink/kettle/toaster and knife stand have been sparkling like new!! just put a very small ampount on some cotton wool/kitchen roll and rub, i usually just wash over with fairy liquid first then polish away!

I reckon that's about the only way to successfully clean those new style stainless steel bins too!
