EMA Query - Does Anyone know

Hi:hello: , my son is starting college in Sept and I was trying to find out how much EMA he would be entitled to. my OH works fulltime and earns about £19,500 but I have a casual part time job, with vary irregular hours, some weeks do 10 hours then maybe not work again for 2 - 3 weeks, do I need to declare this income,(if I include last years earnings then it takes us just over the £30 week band) as looking on the website it says
"And there’s good news if you have a part-time job – any money you earn isn’t included in your overall household income"
Yet when I phoned the helpline the young lady said I had to declare all income! Just wondered if anyone had any experience of this kind of thing!?
Thanks in advance!

I think the P/T work bit is aimed at the trainee. As a parent you still have to declare your income.
If you earn about £1,300 then it looks like your sone will only get £20 a week. But with your income being so irregular its hard to say.0 -
your income as stated on your p60 for last year WILL count, however part-time earnings by the student wont affect EMA0

From june 2008 if they go onto an entry into employment course everyone gets EMA regardless of their household income,i have read it tonight on the EMA form and was also told this by a tutor at our local college who runs this course, its a shame they dont all get EMA.0
