Variable speed playback on Ipods & other HD mp3 players

Watcha,
Can anyone tell me if this is a feature that the ipods \ other MP3 players support?
I'm looking for a device to be used to hold and play an archive of dancing songs. The playback speed needs to be adjustable to slow the tunes down for beginners etc.
Thanks for any help

This may be of some use, although you'd have to pre-process the mp3s http://www.e-soft.co.uk/Audiotran.htm0

Certainly my iPod as far as I noticed has no pitch control. As manathome mentioned you can pre process your songs to slow them down using software to do it for you.

But nothing "on the fly" as it were?
IE I could have 3 versions of the same song each with slightly different speeds, but not 1 song I could control via the device (be it ipod or other mp3 player)?
hmmm.....
Thanks for the help so far.

One alternative is one of these http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/Catalogue/ViewProduct.aspx?productId=225 - intended for 'bedroom blasters' but will slow down CDs without changing the pitch. Haven't used this unit, so afraid I don't know whether it works with home-brew CDs.0

Thanks MaH, something like this is what's currently used, a CD player with variable speed built in. I was just hoping to ditch the (quite large) CD player and the (even larger) case full if CD's that get lugged around.
