yes im pretty sure if anyone lives with you, over 18, then their income is assessed for housing/ council tax benefit purposes. you could check the dwp and local councils website for more info.
sorry cant give u a definate answer! :D

  • when will she be getting new accomodation for next sept?my daughter is renting a flat and the lease starts 1st july,so technically she will only be living at home for a few short weeks.
Just to add if anyone is on dla then the earnings of non dependant children arent taken into account until they are 25

If anyone of the named people on Housing Beneft/Council Tax Benefit (i.e. either partner or the sole claimant) is on any rate of DLA Care component, no non-dependant deductions are made, regardless of their age. I also have a sneaking feeling - but I may well be wrong on this - that students don't have non-dependant deductions made but I'm not certain on this one.

EDIT: Just checked this and there will be no deduction made if the student doesn't work out of term time but there may well be a deduction made if they work during the summer vacation.
  • thanks for that i dont know where i got the age 25 thing from!
