Lost laptop working

After being told to use a wep setting up address my laptop will not work wirelessly. I removed the wep and tested the laptop still work but MAFF are insisting that i work at least with an wep set due to the point i appear to have lots of data transfer if i leave only the router on and no pc or laptop on. I cannot by using my network lead connect to the web dispite my pc working ok.

if anyone can point me in the right direction i would be greatful

thanks

crikey, I think I understand what you are saying...
Your ISP is MAAF and they suggest your unsecured wireless network has been hacked? possibly alerting you to this by an overuse charge or similar, which you queried?!
The "I cannot by using my network lead connect to the web dispite my pc working ok" sentence completely lost me.

The 'Right direction' is, ideally, RTFM., though I suspect that is not an option. Guessing at you having windows XP (you don't say) you should have a wireless icon on the taskbar, double click, choose your network, connect, enter the passkey, bob's your uncle. Alternatively, if there is no icon, start>connect to> wireless connection and follow the steps above

There was me thinking the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food were insisting on a secure connection. :confused:Should have known better as the Government has not been so fussy in the past!

was the router supplied by MAAF or did you buy it yourself?

    ISP Madasafish

    Router D-LINK -G624T

On the wirelwss network screen my connection to MAAF is not detailed. It has in the past. I have a connection to the web from my PC.

Thanks to all sorry for any write up hoping this one is better

I can detect that i have a wireless connection around but no connection.

    Look forward to more information,
