Bradford & Bingley Internet A/C Questions...

Hi,

I opened a Bradford & Bingley internet A/C last September, the one that MSE 'plugged' heavily, and a lot of people seemed to go for. The only letter I received from them described it as a B&B 'eSavings' account. I thought it was called an 'eSaver'. I received and email the other week giving me details of an interest rate change on my 'Internet Saver 1 Account' which corresponds to the name of 'INTERNET SAVER ACCOUNT' when I log in. Why do they make it so difficult to even know which account you have?

As I've got over £35K in there, I'm looking at moving some into a new A/C in a different bank just as a precaution to you-know-what happening, but just wanted to confirm the current interest rate on my existing A/C. I've found the 'Internet Saver (Issue 2)' @ 6% gross. I presume that mine is the previous version of this. Anyone confirm this for definite?

The email says that my rate is currently 5.65% gross. I know I won't lose anything for trying, but what is the likely response going to be to asking to be put onto Issue 2? Anyone tried this?

As others have said in other threads, it's really annoying when they advertise a great rate, then the rate goes down, while new accounts get a better rate.

Thanks in advance.
Nice to save.

There was a thread on this a while back detailing exactly how to switch to the next issue higher paying account quickly.

Hope this helps. Credit to OP.

    Cheers Dean!

I got a bit impatient just before you replied, and emailed B&B asking if they could/would transfer me to the new A/C.

If the answer is no, I'm wondering if I may as well move banks anyway and get 6.50% somewhere. It's just the constant moving around that I want to avoid getting into.

    Thanks again.
    Nice to save.

    No problems. Glad to help.

To be fair to them they seemed to have stopped this new issue malarky. A while back there it was becoming a joke with esavings then the internet saver going into multiple issues.

But as you say there are others now paying 0.5% more for the same thing. Plenty of good 1 year fixed deals out there now too if you're able to set aside the money for a year without needing it.
