    By my calculations that's about 9,000mpg.

    If you did 12,000 miles in a year (that's usually quoted as average isn't it?), your petrol costs would be 47.5p a month, if it cost 95p a litre. Imagine!

    Edit; I used 16,000 miles as the distance around the earth, which I think is the distance to Australia? The equator is apparently 24,901.5 miles long, and with 8 litres would give 14,132 mpg. And that takes the monthly petrol costs to 30.5p (12,000 miles a year, 95p per litre).

    The big petrol companies would never allow that type of car to be available to the general market.

    Wow! They have totally removed large portions of the webpage story now. There was info before about the fuel being mixed with water to become more manageable.

    Ironically, pure water is going to overtake oil as the most valueable commodity on the planet in 20 years so all the companies have to do is sideline themselves somehow before then.
