seriously though, I'd just refund him. you'll only be a couple of quid down and will save you getting a neg.

So when you were at school and the bad boys asked for your lunch money every day you coughed up?

Stick to your guns OP and start wording your reply to the neg that is coming.

I would email him first though stating exactly what you have said here and explain that you have made a fair offer in the circumstances.

Good point get a refund and still leave a neg no recourse for seller with the new feedback rules.
  • don't even bother refunding him the postage he paid; effectively he changed his mind about the item

refund him the value of the item, when you receive back in pristine condition
with that much feedback one neg wont affect you if you leave a good reply

I rung paypal today about similar thing. If he does a dispute they will not authorise a refund until buyer gives tracking info(and i think you only have to refund your postal costs not his).
You are going to get a neg so just don't let it get to you.
I have just added on the bottom of my listings that please do not bid if you have left 3 negs or neutrals in the last 3 months .Dunno whether ebay will let me get away with it .

I don't think they will mind what you put as long as you realise you can't enforce it. Your request would not stop a buyer bidding and if they win you can't refuse to sell without going through the whole NPB process and risking a neg, which is exactly what would happen to anyone else with or without your requirements.

There are new seller preferences now including being able to block bidders with a certain number of strikes in the past year and buyers with complaints against them so go and recheck your preferences. As long as each of their negs is backed by a strike they would not then be able to bid anyway.

The main one i want is to refuse a buyer without a unconfirmed address. Ebay.com have it so why not us?
