Ignoring the warranty (that simply means you have no obligation from the manufacturer), how old is the microwave? If it isn't too old you could take it back to your retailer.

How old? Did the display "glow" green?
    a) These are dangerous to open. If you are not qualified STOP NOW
    b) The older types have >60v applied to a screen grid to act like the anode in a tube. Burned out resistor?
    c) Bad connection to display?
    d) Timed out, display does an auto off to save power?

Do modern microwaves not use FL tubes anymore? (I don't know only ever had mech. timer models!)

I agree the OP shouldn't open the microwave. High Voltage + High Current = Instant Death !

Point a digi camera on the display in infra red mode you can see if the filaments are still glowing which would sort of give us a clue..

I can see the green display and some times digits appear broken......

    Anyway to sort out?

Are the broken digits the same ones for each character? I would say liquid spillage but in that case you would see digits constantly emitting sounds like a driver fault or loose connection / dry joint.

Just to add if you know anyone handy with electronics then get them to look but if you are unsure then best to chuck it out. Microwaves are the deadliest of consumer items plain and simple. Far far far worse than tellies so that should give you an idea!
