Unfortunately just stating you pay £150 a month for gas and electricity doesn't help very much.
Firstly the £150 could be high because you are paying off some underpayment for a previous period.
Secondly you need to know how much gas and how much electricity you are using.
As time is short, and assuming that the £150 a month is correct(that is a very high payment) I suggest that you enter 35,000kWh for gas and 6,000kWh per year for electricity into the comparison site.
That will give you a good idea who has the cheapest capped rate for a heavy user in your area.
However the important point to note is that the paymants produced by the comparison sites cannot be compared with your current payments of £1,800 a year.
However without knowing your annual consumption of Gas and Electricity in kWh it is simply not possible to know how much extra a capped rate will cost you.0 -

Just a quick bit of advice
Eon for electric - about 3000kwh a year maybe a bit less
Npower gas - 20000 kwh a year , maybe a bit less
Both standard tariffs , DD , etc
Should i swop for a capped deal , somewhere , im asking because im aware that they are quickly disappearing and prices are due to shoot up soon (tommorow???!)
Cheers

I don't know if this is the best deal around but I have signed to Scottish Power as they offered me price capping until early 2011. March I think it was. And they told me that it would only cost me an extra £1.50 a month each for gas and electricity which is hidden in the tarrif to benefit from the capping.0

It is simply a gamble you have to take on when, and by how much, your present tariff will increase, against how much extra you will pay now on a capped tariff.
The prevailing wisdom is that it will pay to go for a capped tariff now; and I would agree with that view.
However it is simply a gamble.0 -

I am not sure that the BG tariff increase of 17% to 'only' 2009 is worth the Gamble.
E-ON at a 7% premium is obviously better.
On paper the NPower deal which runs to 2011 for a 10% premium seem by far the best - but it is NPower:mad:0 -

That seems to be the 'standard' [strike]lie[/strike] statement from the call centre.
I am pretty certain you will be paying considerably more than an extra £1.50 per month. However they may only increase your DD by £1.50 initially; but that means nothing.
Don't forget when you phone these call centres or comparison networks they only have one objective - to sign you up so the operator gets their commission.
That said I am not in any way suggesting that signing for that tariff was other than a good move.0 -
I`ve just called Eon for my grandmother. I`ve been told it will cost her 10% more than her current tariff which is age concern. She only used £530 worth of gas and electric this year so as long as energy prices go up more than 10% then she is ok. If they don`t then I will ring to take her off the capped and go onto another tariff. It may be that she is a good candidate for staywarm as she doesn`t use much and at least it may encourage her to have her bungalow a bit warmer!0
