Can you do anything with them aside from put them in the compost bin (ie. eat them?). Managed to buy an absolutely insane amount of carrots this morning from famers market!
I've made my debts bite-size too depressing to look at all at once so am handling them one at a time - first up Graduate Loan £1720 paid off! only £280 to go!!!

They're poisonous as far as I know - so straight to the compost with them.
As for the carrots - carrot and coriander soup is in our collection I think, and there's a recipe for Killer Carrot Cake in the Cooking section of the MEGA Index...Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I'm always open to correction but I'm fairly sure of this one.
Edit: I can't for the life of me find the site I first read this on - so someone might well come along and correct me yet! After all... rabbits eat them!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. According to this site (everything you ever wanted to know about carrots!) they are edible (although I am not sure why you would want to eat them!)

Do you know anyone who keeps rabbits?"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Oh, right. Thank you. I wonder where I got the idea they are poisonous from then? Anyway, just tried some and they're pretty nasty <spit> so mine are still all for the compost heap.
Note to self: Carrot tops are NOT poisonous they are just nasty.
Thanks again ccHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Well it's always possible that that website is wrong, - let us know if you start getting any symptoms in the next few hours!!
I used to do a lot of horse riding when I was a kid and I can remember someone saying you shouldn't feed carrot tops to horses, although I cant' remember why?"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."

I did a google on "carrot tops"+poison+eating and got no hits (in the first few pages) that said they were poisonous - and you'd think that if they were poisonous there'd be loads of hits.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. They're not poisonous and you can eat them - just add them into a salad or salad dressing or something, much as you would a herb, but they can taste bitter on their own! They're very high in minerals and vitamin content too
Competitionscafe - they're ok for horses to eat too, in small quantities and whilst still attached to the carrots! It's ones that have been chopped off already which you should avoid feeding, the same as freshly mown grass etc, as they will start to ferment and can cause colic.
Great for bunnies, guinea pigs etc and I offer them to my dragons occasionally too, but they're not too keen on them, presumably because of the bitter taste"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Can I just say that from a gardening point of view it is not wise to add them to compost if you are yourself growing carrots - I believe it can encourage carrot fly - and if you get that you will be unhappy (and so will any neighbours who are also trying to grow their own carrots). May be an old wives tail but there is usually something in these things.0

Thanks for all the replies! I will add them to the salad - of you dont hear from me again you'll know why
otherwise i'll give you some feedback
