Internet Favourites Gone Missing

Had a few problems with my laptop recently and my favourite folders don't load when I click on the favourites icon in the Internet Explorer browser window?

The strange thing is that when I click on "add" (i.e add a favourite) all my folders load into the new window that appears?

I've tried system restore to no avail, beginning to think it's a registry problem.

Can anyone help please.

TIA

    FILE | IMPORT AND EXPORT

Export your favourites, then reinstall IE, then import your favourites back and see if it works.
  • which operating system are you running? It may be the pointer that tells internet explorer isn't working correctly.

In windows XP or 2000 go to documents and settings\username\favorites see if your favs are in there. If they are then I can help you fix it. (there are two registry keys you normally need to change)

I'm running xp home edition with all the updates installed.

Yes, my favourites folder is in docs and settings\favourites

I'm also getting messages saying that no registry entries are present when I try to run programs.

I think your right with you diagnosis.

    Any help appreciated

    TIA
