Why don't they all use brown paper bags like they do in the US - they can be made from recycled paper and are themselves recyclable...Is it me...0

There's a few shops in town that use brown paper bags but the trouble is if it's wet they just fall apart and even if they don't the contents get soaked. In our climate they're no good at all if you arn't able to put them straight into the car0 -
I dont really want to bring this up but I got myself a shopping trolly, not an old lady one, it,s a sports model. I know there was a long conversation about this before but it has to be restated. The only problem is by the time I,ve unloaded the shopping onto the belt, the very helpful cashier has got a lot of it into bags already.:T:jDabbler in all things moneysaving.Master of none:o

In Ireland a lot of shops have paper bags, not plastic ones, the type that have string handles and have the shop logo printed on them. Why if shops like M&S are producing them for Ireland can't they have them here as well?0 -
ASDA are still giving away free carrier bags I know I work there unfortunately.
Anyway as im usually at the blunt end of everyones pro/anti environmental policy I just give ppl the bags requested as if ppl are going to bother to recycle they will do it regardless of what bag they use. For every person who forgets there bags which is just about everyone who has ever bought one I remind them that there is a carrier bag recycling container at the front of the store they can use on the next visit.
Some people just don't want to recycle even if you give them free bags for life0
