    :hello:Hi all,

I'm new on hear so bear with me.

I have a Dilema,i have been a plasterer for best part of 20 years unfortunately all the physical work has taken its toll on the body,i have all the usual aches and pains.

I have always worked in the construction trade and have taken other courses in carpentry and plumbing, for which i have qualifications.

Which brings me to my question,i would like to start up a handyman business to the domestic market covering all of the above work, but on a smaller scale,I'm really looking for some advice on whether its worth it or not.

    All replys gladly received

How have you got on with this as it is something we are thinking of doing, as we have experience of doing most jobs on 25 properties - thought the local public might appreciate our ability to do most things...

Give it a go. Take in advice already given in this thread, ie don't do jobs you are not sure about, price fairly, don't rip people off. Learn as much as you can from other tradesman and learning sources.
Be upfront and honest with customers and you will get repeat work and recommendations. Advertise in parish magazines. There are lots of old ladies out there who would love to know a reliable handyman that they can call on.
One problem that I found was that you have to carry so many tools to be able to do a variety of different jobs. Be prepared to do the smaller jobs. They are not very profitable but do usually lead to more work. Until you are established you might find that the business is "famine or feast". I hope you make a go of it.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
