Hi all
here's hoping that someone out there can help me with this request.
I recently downloaded a movie but disocovered that there's no subtitles (am partially hearing btw) so cannot follow the film. Is there anything that I can use so that subtitles can be added? If so, how does one use this facility please?
Many thanks

There definitely are since a Dutch friend told me he uses them but since I have no need I have never followed it up. I know that Media Player Classic allows them to be played so this may help you track down the solution.0

I cannot condone downloading movies illegally but providing this is not the case...
There are a few free software programs out their for permenantly inserting subtitles into movie files (such as vobsub - google it) however you need the subtitle file in the first place.
This is usually just a text file (with a different extension) that lists all the subtitles and the time in the movie that they occur. As far as I am aware there are no programs available to create these files or to translate movies as they are played. You may be able to find a website to download the relevent subtitle file for your movie from.
A lot of media players (including windows media player) will insert subtitles as the movie is played providing the subtitle file has the same name as the movie, is in the same directory and is of the correct format.
Also if you buy the DVD the subtitles are normally included by default.
