Fair price for oil tank ?

We have had a quote form a local company but do not know if it is fair. We currently have a 1800 litre oil tank that they will drain & remove (this may require curtting in half due to our garden). A new Titan 1300 litre tank will be put in a different position with a new supporting base.
Because the tank will be in a different position they have to do a bit of pipe moving to connect it up to the boiler. The oil from the old tank will then be put in to the new tank. They will then bleed the system.
The price quoted is £1051.00 which includes VAT. We live in a SP5 postcode area, which is in Wiltshire.
Any thoughts about the price is very welcome.

Hello alex_the_great.
Welcome to the MSE site. I hope you don't mind but I have moved your thread to the 'Is This Fair' board.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
I would have thought this was very expensive but hopefully someone in the know can helptravelover0

It could be expensive - if your tank is just a basic oil tank, then the price is too much. But, if you have to have a 'bunded' tank, then it seems about right. Basically the building regulations changed a while ago about new tanks. Read through
http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/business/444217/590750/590821/174658/
but basically if you have your oil tank within 10m of a watercourse or 50m of a bore hole - which would include everyone living on a housing estate. Then your tank needs to be bunded (double skinned - two tanks, one inside the other) and needs to adhere to the strict regulations about where it is sited and how massive the base for it should be (believe me it's huge!). If you do not fall into these criteria then you can just have the normal tank and site it almost anywhere on anything.
So that would be why there are big price differences.
Check with your supplier which type of fitting he has budgeted for.
Hope that helps, I am not an oil tank bore, just someone renovating an old barn!0
