  • i`ve just posted this on another thread but its relevant here go to http://www.fueltechexperts.com/ and have a read of the article on BG244 it is supposed to be very good and unlike many others doesn`t make any wild claims but to remove all carbon deposits in engine and clean out injectors, most additives are just fuel conditioners and will not do this . Millers diesel power(which seems to be popular) or something similar will then be able to maintain this and boost the cetane of the fuel to help it burn better . google BG244 and see what you find on forums ,many people are starting to use this now as part of a maintenance schedule including even main dealers in the states in order to save customers the expense of engine strip and manual de-coke which for most of us is far too much money . check it out

the link is good. is it worth doing this even if there is no smoke?

it sounds like something that should be dont once in a while ?
  • hi ifti yes if you go to the site that stocks it (http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/) they reccommend that you do it every 12000 miles or once a year ,and use a fuel conditioner/cetane booster with every tank to maintain the cleanliness of your fuel system and injectors . also the conditioner should have lubrication properties for the fuel pump as apparently the new low sulphur diesels lack in this area and can result in damage to the injector plungers and fuel pumps if i remember correctly. there is a lot of information on the site i mentioned before (fuel tech experts) on a few different articles.
heres a good testimonial from landyzone http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f6/oil-additives-67250.html

it makes sense to me that a clean engine is going to be more efficient and last longer/less wear ,my 2 cents.
  • !!!!!!!!. Its spam selling snakeoil.

If you want clean injectors, get them done ultrasonically.
  • To clean out my injectors I add a little bit of petrol for a while to the tank. It's probably no good on a CDI engine but works for teh old school ones.

No problem with black smoke tho. I was pulled for a "random" test seeing as I drive an old car and was delighted to tell the tester he'd have great fun black smoke testing it when it ran on veg oil and wouldn't produce any. He seemed bemused and unable to test it..
