I notice that BT (for example) prevents my browser from caching the pages I am viewing. Whilst an understandable security measure, is there any general 'fix' (add on, widget etc...) that would allow a browser user to specify caching on secure sites? (how would the site know you were secretly caching btw?) It would be nice to be able to review pages viewed after leaving a secure site would it not?
Any thoughts?

i'm no expert, but I would think there is no 'fix' (temporary or otherwise): the whole idea of https security is that 'redirection' [caching] is NOT allowed
Like i say, i'm not an expert.... BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

(Bespoke 'screen scraping'?)
..well we all know about the 'Print Screen' key trick to cache an image of your browser window, but even 'select all' 'copy' and 'paste' works for quite a few things.........under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
...yes, a slightly inelegant solution

I've not come across such an add-on - but it seems clear that it would be misunderstood by some users and left turned on all the time as a "password remembering tool" - with obvious security issues (as the OP alludes to).
I'm not sure if there's any way of customising - for example - the password store in Firefox, so that it would remember other fields than those it thinks are a password? Presumably it recognises a password field by a string search which could (in theory) be applied to a string other than "password"?
Sorry, just speculation here...0 -
This may not be practical for you but how about simply opening each page in a new tab? Then all the open tabs are your 'History'.
Be careful to only open the next page from the most recently opened page though. I've noticed the Barclays online bank site kicks me out if I try clicking a link from an older tab. BT doesn't seem to mind though.0
