Price Increase on New Car

Does anyone know the rules around the dealer increasing the price of a car after you've agreed a price? I've just been looking at the old paperwork (2006) for a brand new VW Golf OH bought from a dealer. The price agreed was around £21000 and I've just noticed that the paperwork OH signed about 2 months later for finance was actually for £23000. Its totally financed because its a work car (replaced a company car). I've checked and can't find what the extra £2000 could be - its not VAT as that was on the original agreement - on the back of the agreement it says they will notify you 14 days in advance if the price changes - OH has no recollection of any price change and just signed the paperwork assuming it was correct (I know I know). I've kept all the paperwork and they definitely didn't notify us in writing of any price change. I'm going to ring the dealer next week, but wondered if anyone had any experience of this?

Never too late to think about saving money as far as I'm concerned, but thanks for replying. I did eventually find out what the extra charge was for - leather seats!!

I'm in charge of car buying in our house from now on.
