Faulty MP3 player

I bought an 2 gig MP3 player for only £8.99 because they were no longer stocking them. It was on the understanding that if it developed a fault, it would not be replaced. I turned it on and all I can get is welcome. I can't get anything else. I have tried replacing the battery and pressing the mode switch. Nothing. I have connected it to the computer, and it does not acknowledge the computer, ie no f drive is coming up. I am baffled. I don't have my receipt. I love MP3 players because I can hold all my CDS on it and don't scratch my CDs to pieces. Can anyone please, please please help?

Is it just a pen drive type player? I'm guessing so at this price. i'm afraid you don't really stand any chance of any comeback from the retailer because of what they told you and the fact you don't have a receipt. It's sounding like a firmware issue so its possible that this can be fixed using software on the manufacturers website, if you can find this.

If you've got the time and/or inclination to fiddle with it try here - http://s1mp3.org/en/index.php . Assuming it's a generic no-brand type you might have some luck.

  • I will try running the software again and will try the company website, but would be too scared to try to take it apart.
