Hit and Run - repair needed

Hi

Some Prat has run into the side of my car and p*****d off without stopping - wrecked the passenger door - I stupidly thought it would be an easy (cheap) repair!! Just got estimate nearly a thousand pounds mainly parts.

I need to buy a new (another) door for the car to reduce the cost of repair if I can

Anyone out there got any suggestions where I can get a Volvo V70 R/N/S door? Black would be wonderful!!

I hope the prat who did it reads this and starts to get nightmares.

Thanks anyway

    Hi grumpyoldgit,

If I was you I'd be seriously ****** off too. I'm going to move your thread over to the motoring board, where hopefully you will get some replies.

Back pages of Autotrader in the "breakers" section perhaps?

Are the advertising dealers listed on the https://www.autotrader.co.uk website, or is that just for used vehicles?

Try this website - type in all the relevant details than any breakers across the country who have what your looking for will give you a call.

I've used them loads of times and they always seem to come up trumps!
  • Phone them back and tell them it's not an insurance job.
  • Hi Moneysavers

Thanks for all the help - I am now narrowing down options to:
    1. repair door - not keen as it is a pretty big area but one guy says he can do it.
    2. 2nd hand door - found several good clearing house sites on the web which circulate your parts needed through the trade - I got my first reply within 2 minutes of posting on one site.
    3. New Volvo door - looking good as not as expensive as first thought and got a better sprayer lined up to do the work. Cost will now be about 60% of original estimates)

All things considered I will probably go for option 3 as I cannot get a 2nd hand door the same colour as original - so will need to pay for prep/painting etc - may as well have a new door done for same cost. At least I will know what's been done to it.

Also 2nd hand Volvo V70 doors are scarce and at a premium and are only about 25% cheaper than new parts.

Thanks again for your interest - hope this info is of use to someone else
