My personal overdraft facility with LLoyds TSB is £8,500 and £1,500 on the other current account. Also overdraft facility with Cahoot is £2000, so if my salary is late I am no liquity problems.
I rarely use my overdrafts but good for the odd emergency. eg having the plumber in to fix a washer.0 -
I can't comment on the current account (except to say I applied and never heard anything ever again) or savings, but I can tell you my experience with the cc & loan to give an idea of service.
Customer service responses were either cut&paste or the most patronising text I've ever seen - especially when I pointed out a security hole in their login technique (this has now been fixed)
Also for the cc - frequently the balance was updated but the actual transaction info didn't go up for another 48 hours, so you're left wondering if it is the transaction you know about or not.Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0 -

And half the time it didn't even make sense...:D0 -
I have to agree that Cahoot's customer "service" is sub-par.
My wife opened a savings account with them a while back and they messed up the process. Their customer service staff handling emails showed no recognition of their mistakes and didn't come close to proferring an apology. Their attitude could be summed up as "Stuff you!". Result - account promptly closed.0 -
I have had poor service from cahoot.
We sent 2 R85 forms in one envelope.
They say they only received one.
They won't accept them retrospectively (as some building socieites do) so if they make a mistake you have to claim it back from the Inland Revenue.
Very dissapointed with their service.0 -
Some contrasting points of view about Cahoot of which I appreciate :beer:Copperplate wrote:The more pedantic amongst us might point out that you shouldn't be using your OD on a regular basis anyway unless there are cash flow issues.
I am in the process moving an overdraft [18.9%] to a 0% card. I've had it for five years and will be glad to see it go.
My point being I am in no hurry to plunge into another one, but when comparing accounts it is a useful feature to have available for free.daveboy wrote:Cahoot interest free overdraft will go down from £250 to £100.
Now this does change things a little, but still interest free!

This has to be the most important factor in choosing any business dealings. You just have to have the right Customer Service people behind you should things go wrong. This does not seem to be the case with Cahoot and I think I will take another look around the online current accounts!!!!!!
Any recommendations?????NCFC Member #00012 :cool:0 -

If cahoot was the last bank on the planet I'd keep my money in my socks0

Had a (2nd) current account with Cahoot for 2 months now, plus a savings account for the same length of time.
I was very positively impressed with their - free - service to move my direct debits (about 2 dozen). They kept me informed at every stage of the process, and they completed all the transfers. Must say that I'd rather have another %age point interest than direct debit transfer request forms in what looks an awfully expensive brochure!!
Emails/questions submitted via their website are responded to promptly, if sometimes with meaning- and useless standard cut-and-paste respones.........however, whenever I asked for clarification, I got a sensible answer back within max 24 hours, often much faster. I never tried to call them, mainly because I like to see things from my bank in writing, so I don't even know whether there's a phone number for them, and wouldn't know what their telephone service is like.
I like the instant access feature on the savings account, and the instant transfer between current and savings. I also like the rather decent interest rates on both accounts!!!
The presentation of the accounts on the web takes a little getting used to, and isn't awfully intuitive. They also seem to expect you to go to their website for announcements (like the impending reduction of the free overdraft from £250 to £100, or interest rate charge changes) - I'd rather receive an email for such changes in T&Cs, but hey, you can't have it all,
All in all, my - admittedly short - experience with Cahoot current and savings has been very positive.0 -

localshop, tell us a bit more, please!
Your post reminded me of that guy who in an entirely different thread said he'd not want to be seen dead in a BMW 1-series. He didn't further qualify his views, but I have sympathy with him, since the BMW 1-series wasn't designed, and isn't advertised, as the "ideal hearse"
Please share a bit more with the Forum - in your experience, what are the pitfalls / shortcomings of Cahoot?0
