Britsh Gas.. Am I Being Conned !!

hi this is my first post here.

i moved into new house 12 weeks ago but when signed up with british gas and i was informed by the operator that everything in the house was covered under the insurance of £22 a month and that we can cancel the contract at any time. we never signed any contract as this was done over the phone. the engineer came out 2-3 days later and changed the programer and gave the boiler a quick once over.

6 weeks later the programer went again and the wife phoned them and it was then said that we werent covered for the heating and an other £10 was added to the £22. the engineer came out and fitted a second hand part.

we were not happy with this at all so the wife got onto the customer sevices and was told that we cannot cancel because the engineer had been out to us .

now also to have this contract we had to have them supply our gas . now that they have put up there prices quite a bit can i leave there services and get it cheaper elsewhere
