i get paid every 4 weeks and find it both a nuisance in some months but good in others i either have to leave money in my bank to cover dd's or change dd dates - not that big an issue have a overdraft to cover stuff i forget about the 2 pays in a month is good and somewhere along the line i get a free month from paying my loan my biggest nusiance at the moment is the paydates i'll get paid on the 13th june but my mates wont get paid til the end of the month so organising night outs etc can be a PITA

I thought it was going to be a problem for myself having changed companies at the start of the year, but having now done it for the past 5 months I am managing to pay everything with no major problems. Don't worry too much about it, as long as you budget for all your DDs, you should make it through.

Also on a brighter note (might not happen to you tho!!), for some reason that I haven't worked out yet, I should be getting 1/12th less of my monthly wage every 4 weeks but I am getting 1/24th less so I'm going to be taking more home per year! :D

... The company is about to change this to 13 annual payments. I will be paid every 28 days with 1 month per year having two pay days.

The way I see this, is that I am going to be taking a huge pay cut each month but with one month per year as a double pay?

I am worried about my monthly outgoings, as I can only see the pay cut in the months. Annually it wont make a difference but as I pay all my bills DD then I will have less money in my bank each month?

Has anyone else got this pay system at work?

Is this legal? Can I fight it? (no union!)

Why is the company REALLY doing this?

Look at it another way. Look at your monthly payments. For each bill, there will be 1 time in the year when you have 2 payments between bills.

It is common in some industries, and it is mildly ridiculous to ask if it is legal - as if the employer might be put in jail for paying you 4 weekly. The real question is whether this is an acceptable change to your terms of employment. You could try writing to them and telling them you expect to be paid monthly.

complete nightmare my brother is paid 4 weekly and i am paid monthly, we co-own a mortgaged house and all the payments (including bills and council tax) have to go through my account as bro's pay date changes from one month to the next!! i get his share but it can leave me with problems when the paydates differ so much. i would hate to be relying on 4 weekly pay alone - as it is i know that when direct debits go out i have just been paid and they will be covered and i have to keep a good eye on the financial side of things given bro's movable feast of a payday... some months its a struggle!!

Myself and Mr MM both get paid like this, it can be a pain.
