inflight entertainment - BA or AA ?

Options
I've the choice of flying British Airways or American Airlines to the States this summer.

Does anyone know which is better for legroom and inflight entertainment etc?

Both are 777's.

AA does not have seat back IFE there are screens at intervals in the aisles, and they only showed 1 film on our trip from Manchester to Chicago.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

If you are flying with American Airlines, the IFE depends on the aircraft type. Most of AA's flights from Heathrow are operated by Boeing 777 aircraft which have seat-back screens in economy. Their Boeing 767 flights do not, I believe, have personal IFE, as mentioned by Stoneman.

British Airways longhaul aircraft all have seat-back IFE, but I find their legroom to be more restricted than that on AA aircraft. I guess it all comes down to cost, whether you are a member of a frequent flyer scheme, etc.

Flown both BA and AA to JFK and I'd recommend BA overall. My AA flight didnt have personal seat back IFE but screens down the aisles, the pitch didnt seem to be anymore than BA at all.

look at cost first and foremost... i mean.. you can get a personal media play, load it with music and movies for hardly anything these days.. i don't think i've actually ever used the IFE in the past 4 or 5 flights TATL..

i normally fly from MAN, and find BA more expensive than other airlines, so i end up booking with the cheapest, and not giving 2 hoots about what IFE i get...

    just my thoughts!

Flew Miami - Heathrow with BA. They had on demand IFE with a huge range of films/progammes that you could start, pause & rewind. First time I managed to watch an entire film since travelling with children! Think they are still rolling it out across the fleet tho.

I flew to New York and back last week with BA. The inflight entertainment was brilliant and the meals were gorgeous. Leg room was cramped though but we were lucky enough to have the front seats on the return flight with loads of leg room. I haven't flown AA but would highly recommend BA.

Have a look at Airline Quality for reviews.

However I'd go for the cheapest with consideration for

    1. Departure times and Terminals (T5 anyone??)

    2. In flight food\drinks cost?

    3. Customer service (BA is !!!!!!)

You should be able to get information on what IFE there will be on both of their web-sites + other info as to what meals there are.

    AA Whats on Board

    BA Onboard Entertainment

Don't forget thought that sometimes the IFE doesn't work or is changed.
