I don't think it matters, I have bought road tax for a car before that was in my mum's name and the insurance was also in her name. At the end of the day they get the money for that car and if it's not your car they don't mind.[FONT=georgia, bookman old style, palatino linotype, book antiqua, palatino, trebuchet ms, helvetica, garamond, sans-serif, arial, verdana, avante garde, century gothic, comic sans ms, times, times new roman, serif]A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it

You can get it on the internet now - I don't know how they check the insurance etc. but I know it is possible.0

I have taxed my OH car because he couldn't get and I had no problems. (I am only a named driver on his insurance.) As long as all the paper work is correct.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Agree, I don't think it matters WHO goes to buy the thing, the important part is to have paperwork showing that the registered keeper (the person who is responsible for the tax) is insured to drive the car and a valid MOT certificate (if required). Oh and a heap of dosh ...
The only problem we've ever had was when the car was registered in HIS name but insurance was in mine and didn't show him as a named driver because I had any driver policy ... That was a few years ago, and the policy since then has named him!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
We had a spell at work where three of us renewed our tax in the same month. Whoever it was most convenient for just took everyone's over the post office and did them all at the same time.0
