I am sure there are many newbies on this board who are finding things a bit confusing at the moment! I came on and now find myself bombarded with terms like fixed price, standard pricing? Can anyone give us a fairly basic explanation of these terms and possible a quick explanation on what to look out for when doing a comparison?
For instance I'm with British Gas price fixed until 2010, why I didn't do the same with EDF when these deals were first introduced i'll never know
, so my thoughts are to move my electric over to BS so that I don't lose my fixed deal, or should I move my Electric elsewhere for a better deal, but not sure what advantages are if I don't understand the terminology
Thanks in advance!

Be very careful before you switch from BG fixed to April 30 2010.
I am on that tariff and you have another 23 months at the same guaranteed price.
I may be wrong but I doubt you will get any cheaper tariff. If you want confirmation enter your details in comparison site - you must enter the number of kWh you use per year, not what you pay monthly.
You also pay a penalty for leaving the BG fixed to April 2010 tariff.0 -
Cardew I don't want to leave BS, I just want a good deal on my electric tariff!
Option I was looking at was to move my Electric supply to BS,
or Find another supplier and fix with them, or lastly see whether EDF would agree to fix current tariff rather than lose me as a customer, don't know if the last suggestion has any meritsDebt Free!!!0 -

Sorry, I assumed you were with BG on their 2010 tariff for both Gas and Electricity as I am.
Where is your electricity? EDF?
You need to find out your electricity consumption in kWh and put that figure in a comparison website for Electricity only.
BG Click 5 is pretty competitive, but of course it is not fixed and prices are forecast to go up soon.
Just leave your gas with BG.0
