Msn Messenger log in problems

Trying to log into Msn Messenger and it keeps on coming up with the message saying:

We were unable to sign you into Windows Live Messenger at this time.
Please try again later.

I did press on the trouleshoot and it came up with saying it could be due to a firewall or somethng but all the firewalls are accepting MSN HELP!!

I get this sometimes. Just wait and try again later.

As Bongedone said, or check your firewall settings just incase it has been unwittingly blocked your end.

how many firewalls have you got installed, you say "all the firewalls are accepting MSN" does that mean you have more than 1 firewall, if so you dont need more than 1,

have you managed to login to msn before or has this happened previously, you sure your entering your password correctly, can you login into your emails via msn.com or uk.msn.com

I haven't had anything problems with signing in before. I did get lots of spam, pop ups and a virus today that i am sorting out at the moment still from 10am this morning. So i dont know if its got anything to do with that but last night was working perfectly fine. I have tried to sign in various time this afternoon with no luck.

Yeah got it as 22.12 at the moment.

I am sure it has got something to do with the virus programs i have loaded recently, due to getting a trojan on the laptop. I am unsure how to check each virus checker to see if it has blocked Msn. As the main windows firewall is allowing Msn. I have AVG, Avast loaded onto the system at the moment.

SORTED!!! Turned off the AVG firewall but turned on the Windows thanks guys for the help.
