Homebase Sold My Fireplace!

Got a nice deal agreed on a ex-display fireplace from Homebase, after checking measurements, rang back to confirm I would definately have it and asked them to put my name on it. Gave my number to another staff member for the original guy to call to advise when I could collect and pay for it, as it was still on dispaly, so they had to take it all down.
Hear nothing, try to contact them on phone, several times - just rings out until a message says 'please hang up'. Hmmmpf.
Keep trying to ring while waiting for them to ring me, feeling ok because it has a sold sticker and my name on it.
Finally got thru to them today and the original guy tells me he sold it yesterday!! :mad:
Why? he says he didn't get the message with my number on it, tho he says my name was on it...he still sold it and they paid for it, so can't do much. I get him to ring around other stores, but no same style fireplaces available...:(
All he could offer as I told him what I thought of communication between staff there, was I look at new range coming soon, and he'll see what he can do...well spose it's better than nothing, but may not be anything suitable, and at what price? Can't se him lowering new stock to the agreed price for the ex-display one...Not happy!
