Thanks but its not all saved up from scratch a chunk is equity from my former property. But tempting though a DB9 is it wouldn't be a sensible buy. I'll just keep saving, watching the property market and driving my more sensible jeep :rolleyes:Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

It did indeed, but then I've only just caught up with the thread since my last post.
That's fantastic news, although its only temporary, it means you're likely to be there more often in the future.
Keep up the great work.
Sounds to me that a 2+2 is on order as we speak; Aston Martin Vantage perhaps?
Hope everything works out, and enjoy the "planning" of it:o:o
A 2+2 would be great and that was what we were originally looking for but they few and far between and we fell in love with Stelios (he's bright orange).
We will:o;) DH keeps says we must practice, but I think we got it perfect the first time.

we find that our total net position is for the first time POSITIVE
I remember when that happened to me although CC bills in the pipeline meant that I wouldn't be 'officially' MF until a couple of months later. Nevertheless being in an overall credit position for the first time was very exciting and made me realise that I was within spitting distance of my ultimate goal. You're on the final straight now - congratulations!MFW Challenge: Mortgage free in 2008! ACHIEVED!0 -

Wow, nice work! :T Well done. Do you think you'll hit this every month from now on?
I'm looking forward to that day...........gets binoculars out & focuses miles in the distance!

 Cheers to the POSITIVE period. I assume it will now occur monthly, for a little longer each month until the champagne is cracked open?A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
Mortgage Balance = £0

Thanks everyone. Yes it was a great feeling last night to see the conditional cell switch from red to black on the spreadsheet (yes, I admit it....). Can't wait until we actually pay off the mortgage itself!
In my planning to hit 100% offset I've not included the current a/c, so this provides a bit of leeway. In theory the net positive position should repeat for a while and improve somewhat, then we'll have the remaining £3500 to pay out for the holiday in May so that'll have an impact. If we can achieve the targets for saving then there is a good chance we'll be 100% offset in the summer. Then we need to save extra before we payoff the mortgage.
Thanks for your support, it's great to share the details with you all in such a positive forum.0 -
SMF2 that was very nicely said, thanks, but yes I do like a nice car, but I should probably be more "keen" on washing it down in mid-Winter
Work for me is 27.5 miles each way (it is normal to quote to that accuracy, isn't it?:o:o) with no public transport option, so I'll need a vehicle whilst I keep working. However wife works 1.5miles from home and cycles, so I guess it evens out?
Some people love cars - Jeremy Clarkson, etc. I think it's nice to be passionate & enthusiastic about things...:D
PS I'm abit sad that the Stig has revealed himself. The mystery was all part of the fun...0 -
