So Confuuuuused .... please help!

I have all wood and stone floors on the ground floor of my house, and carpets & a tiny bit of wood on the stairs and on most of the first floor and loft room.

I had a very small capacity tesco el cheepo vacuum cleaner which was not up to the job and now the carpets are really looking tatty. I now need to get a soopa doopa vacuum / carpet cleaner / floor washer and have a budget of up to £350.

Should I get a separate carpet washer / vacuum / floor washer, or is there an amazing product that will do all 3? I also have to do the stairs (2 flights as there is the loft room) so need a stair attachment.

I have been searching online, and the sheer array of products has got me bamboozled and I really don't want to buy a dud.

Thanks
