Does anyone have any clues why they are doing this, and should I be worried? There are a few wee strabws on the way.

Haven't read the whole page but this may help

    http://www.extension.umn.edu/distribution/horticulture/DG1148.html

    found on web:

powdery mildew (look for white to gray to tan fungal growth on the lower leaf surface, with tiny white then yellow then tan then black (with age) fruiting bodies. In severe cases, leaves might turn brown and curl up. Some individual specimens will be much more susceptible to powdery mildew than others

I'd try looking in the soil/compost for white grubs (vine weevil larva) that can munch away on the roots

I would suspect vine weevil as troll35 says, if growing in pots, are they in pots?

There is no cure - the vine weevil killer is not suitable for edible plants. I lost some of mine this year due to this blighters

If in open ground, maybe just normal die back, do you have plenty of green leaves?

Do you have a picture? I have just had to take out one of my strawberry plants (I have three in a hanging basket) because it had an airborne fungus.

I am no expert at all - this is my first year of growing. My local garden centre are very helpful and have given me loads of advice, so I took one of the leaves in yesterday and they told me that was what it was.

The plant affected was very different to the others anyway - it only had two flowers on and the others have loads.

If you can post a photo, I can tell you if it is the same, or similar to mine.

I cant take a picture unfortunately, I nipped out all the brown leaves, fed and watered them and they look a bit better. I have three types in wall mounted pots, the ones we were all buying from Aldi, the early fruit is looking quite good and I cant see any powdery residue, I,ll hold out to see if this goes on then pull out the ones I think my be sick. I,ll have to learn patience and diligence. Thanks for the advice all.
