Just an update, it went bang and boom and now its not working, and my data has been lost:mad:
rang dell they asked if i wanted to get the part or an engineer, i told them i only needed the part as i know how to install a HDD, so its coming tuesday now.
Gutted, it died while backing up.0 -
Eek!!
Sorry for your loss!
sure it was the drive that went "boom"? take it out and have a look
Drives usually die with a clatter and a scraping sound (fingernails down blackboard) unless a chip in the board on the drive blew!!Laters

That buzzing noise sounded like a PSU. It happened to mine a few weeks ago, I replaced it and all is working fine now.

Oops! make sure in future to backup to an external device or another hard drive in the PC on a more regular basis.
Use a program like Microsofts free synctoy to help you do it too and its easy to make sure you have a regular up to date backup. When using the housing forum please use the sticky threads for valuable information.0
